Full name: Xander Kristian Sanguini

Age & Birthday: 14, October 13th
House & Year: 4th year, Ravenclaw

Hair: Dark brown/black - he lets it grow out as much as possible before being told to cut it
Eyes: Almost black, hooded
Body: He's very light on his feet and not very tall. He looks younger than he is and ages slowly.
Clothing style: If he's not in uniform it's very likely you'll find him wearing a shirt and dressed smart. He tends to lean towards darker colors and avoid bright colors that stand out as much as possible. Sometimes his clothes look too big for him.
***
Likes: School, learning, exploring, reading, practicing magic, night, outdoors, rain, astronomy, fresh air, open spaces, heights, travelling.
Dislikes: Strong smells, bright lights, gossip, feeling trapped, boredom, being wrong, not understanding, crowds, too much attention, burns, failing a spell, people who can read him easily.
Strength: Ridiculously patient and can keep his cool, level headed and logical.
Weaknesses: Overestimates his own ability, pushes the limits for a thrill.
Patronus: Siberian Husky - being sorted into Ravenclaw and not Slytherin like he expected
Dementor: When his parents separated
Quirks/Habits: Bites on his thumb when he's absorbed in a book, has a habit of tapping a rhythm of 4, when he's lost in thought he can stand in one place for a really long time and stare into nothing.
Personality: Xander isn't the most talkative or sociable person you'll ever meet but he can get along with people when he tries. He generally tries to keep some semblance of distance from people if he can so they never get a chance to learn too much about him. He can't stand people who talk at 100 words per minute, especially not if they're the sort who like to gossip. He'd much rather sit somewhere quite with one or two people than be part of a big crowd and it's best if you keep the attention away from him. He can quite often overestimate his own ability which results in him failing at something, then he just gets angry because he hates failing. Xander can be very stubborn and strong willed when he wants to be and once he's made his mind up about something you'll be lucky to make him compromise. If you don't want to get on his bad side, don't make a comment about how he looks younger than his age - he hates the fact he's not aging and growing as quickly as others.

History: Xander was born late on the 13th October, in a little mountain chalet in Switzerland about three weeks earlier than expected. His mother was thrilled at first, until she realized that her newborn liked to chew and chomp on things, often managing to draw blood even though he didn't appear to have any teeth. His father, at first, spent a lot of time with him often making excuses about Anastasia needed to 'rest' as an excuse to spend time alone. The woman in question would agree after growing increasingly frustrated with a child who wouldn't feed, and who would lie awake for hours on end, never sleeping though the night. Over the years, Anastasia grew more and more suspicious of what was going on, and why her child never ate around her - she would provide meals for both father and son and they would nibble on bits here and there, but otherwise would leave the majority of their meal. She was also worried at how small her young son was, and how slow he seemed to be in terms of growing.
When he was seven she found out that the father of her child was actually a 120ish year old vampire, and not the 30 year old businessman she thought he was. Finding out that his genes had passed on and that her son was technically a vampire as well was the last straw for her, and she locked herself in her bedroom for three days and wouldn't come out or speak to anyone. Then, in the middle of the night, she grabbed her bags and left. It was almost two years later before Xander was able to see his mother again.
When he was eleven he received his letter to Hogwarts, to the surprise of both parents. It was at that point when neither parent particularly wanted him full time: his mother didn't want a vampire son around, and his father saw him as more of a wizard than a vampire, and therefore his mothers' problem. Xander was left spending a few days here, a few days there, and jumping between houses.
School couldn't come soon enough for him but he was worried that he would end up in Slytherin house. There was nothing better than that moment when the hat was placed on his head and called Ravenclaw. At first, he didn't know how he was supposed to stay in school without anyone finding out, or anyone questioning why he didn't eat meals with them, but over time he fell into enough of a routine that people didn't ask questions and he stopped worrying so much. Over time his new worry because the growing war that was brewing, and the fear of what would be expected from him. He'd already heard his father talking about it over the summer as he talked about all the positive aspects of recent events. Xander had sat there silently unsure what to think of it all. He didn't want to be on the wrong side of the war, but he didn't want to get on the wrong side of his father, either.

Well, to be honest he hadn't quite expected to say that, and it certainly wasn't an apology for the way he'd been acting, but at least he'd said it to her without the alcohol. It seemed that the only time either of them had said it had involved alcohol actually, but this time? This time he wanted her to know that he meant it. He wanted her to know that despite everything that had happened, he still loved her and wanted to be with her. Hopefully that would be enough.
Chase couldn't help a grin when Emily said it back to him, and he ran his thumb softly under her eyes, wiping away the tears he saw there. "Same, though I didn't realize it till Christmas." And when he had realized it, it had hit him like a ton of bricks. Looking back, he couldn't help a small chuckle at the memory, followed quickly by a stab of pain as he recalled the conversation he'd had with his dad afterwards.
"Do you want to go somewhere? Catch up? Your dorm perhaps..."
Chase laughed and kissed her again. "Eager much?" He couldn't believe how long he'd been away from her, or just how much he'd missed her. There were things that he hadn't thought about while he'd been away but now that he was back and she was right here in front of him, he couldn't help but think of every single one. He needed her.
"Room of requirements? I don't quite feel ready to face anyone else just yet." He kissed her again and moved, wrapping one arm around her shoulders and he started them towards the stairs. Before they go far he stopped and turned to look at her, reaching for her hands. "We're good... right? Me and you?" He just wanted to hear her say that everything was still okay between them. Sure she'd just said she loved him too, but he still felt like he needed to hear her say it.
